REGISTRATIONS
The following registrations can be made at this Consulate General:
Birth
Marriage
Death
Military service
BIRTH
This is the registration of the birth of the child who has at least one Chilean parent. Registration can only be done for children born in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, North West Territories, Territory of the Yukon and Nunavut.
The documents required are:
1) Original PARENTAL INFORMATION CERTIFICATE (British Columbia) or FRAMING SIZE (Alberta and Saskatchewan) birth certificate, issued by the Department of Vital Statistics of each Province or Territory

2) Photocopy of valid Chilean passport or Carnet de Identidad (father or mother)
3) Photocopy of the passport or Cédula de Identidad (or driver's licence) of the other parent.
4) Photocopy of the "libreta de familia" or marriage certificate (if parents are married).
5) Chile birth certificate of one of the parents. If you don't have one that is less than 1 year old, include an extra money order for US$ 5 to obtain one.
Fee: US$ 17
The father or the mother must sign four copies of the consular birth registration.
If you are 18 or older you can request your own birth registration. Please include a photocopy of your Passport or Drivers Licence.
Please include 2 EXPRESSPOST envelopes (Canada Post) as we have to send you mail on two occasions.
Please wait about 6 months from the date of your initial registration to call the Consulate to inquire about your ID number (RUN #) as we have to check the Registro Civil computer terminal to determine if the registration was completed.
MARRIAGE
To register a marriage the following conditions apply:
Either the husband or the wife must be Chilean.
You must bring a marriage certificate issued by the Department of Vital Statistics of your Province. Registration can only be done for marriages in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, North West Territories, Territory of the Yukon and Nunavut.
Both parties must appear in person and bring their current valid identity cards or passports. One of them must be Chilean.
Fee: US$: 17.00.
DEATH
To register a death the following requirements must be met:
The person that passed away must be Chilean, either born in Chile or a naturalized citizen. A foreigner's death may also be registered if he or she was married to a Chilean citizen AND the marriage was officially registered.
The original certificate of death, issued by the Department of Vital Statistics must be provided and will not be returned, as it must be legalized, translated and submitted to the Servicio de Registro Civil in Chile.
Chilean Passport or Identity Card of the deceased.
Certificate from the attending physician mentioning the cause of death.
The registrant must provide a valid passport or identity card.
Fee: US$ 17.00.
MILITARY SERVICE
Registration must be done in the year the applicant turns 18, before August 30 of that year.
If registration occurs after this date, both registration and an application for amnesty must be done.
You must apply in person or by mail and provide the following documentation (photocopies accepted):
Chilean Passport or Identity Card, PRC (Permanent Resident Card) or Canadian Passport. You must indicate your profession, current activity, marital status and level of education.
If the applicant has already been registered in Chile he must provide the certificado de matricula militar de paz.Fee : US $ 1.00 or US$ 5.00 (after August 30)
