SIMPLE AUTHORITY (CARTA PODER)

Request and/or collect pensions, retirement funds, benefits, life insurance, family assistance, benefits, cheques, documents, etc.

Open, close and administrate bank accounts. Withdraw funds from bank accounts, cash cheques, etc.

Request a Police Clearance ("Certificado de Antecedentes")

Fee: US$ 5.00.-

PERMISSION FOR A MINOR TO LEAVE CHILE

(valid for 180 days only)

To obtain this document the parent(s) that is (are) not traveling must appear in person and provide the Consulate General with the following documentation:

Current identification: Passport or drivers licence

Proof of paternity: Original birth certificate of the minor that includes the names of the parents

Passport number of the minor

Full name and passport number of the person(s) the minor is traveling with(if applicable)

Fee: US$ 7.- 

CERTIFICATES

Certify a photocopy as being a true copy of the original.

Certify the existence of a person ("Certificado de Supervivencia")

Fee: US$ 5.-

SPECIFIC POWER OF ATTORNEY (PODER ESPECIAL) 

For one or various specific transactions, such as:

To buy, sell or administrate properties, cars, businesses, etc.

Transactions relating to inheritances: Acquire, distribute, and sell goods and property belonging to the Estate, etc.

Specific Court and Judiciary transactions

Marriages and annulment of marriages

The Consulate will prepare any Power of Attorney whose draft has been sent from Chile. Make sure you provide the wording (called minuta in Spanish)  in advance, by e-mail.

Fee for the Specific Power of Attorney:

US$ 30 (one page)

US$ 35 (two pages)

US$ 40 (three pages), etc.

PUBLIC DEEDS

Revoke/annul or ratify previously issued Powers of Attorney or Public Deeds.

Cede Titles and Property ("Cesión de Derechos")

Acknowledge parenthood of children ("Reconocimiento de Hijo/a")

Separation of goods and property within a marriage ("Separación Total de Bienes")

Wills and Testaments (a draft of these documents must be written by a Lawyer in Chile)

The Consulate can also transcribe any Public Deed whose draft has been sent from Chile (make sure this is done by e-mail, otherwise a delay of several days may occur).

Fee for Public Deeds:

US$ 55.00 (one page)

US$ 60.00 (two pages) etc.

All the above mentioned documents may be requested by any person who brings the original documentation specified below to the Consulate.

However, the documents must be signed and collected by the interested party when completed.

GENERAL POWER OF ATTORNEY   (PODER GENERAL) 

It consists of prescribed wording enabling the Agent in Chile to represent the Principal (person) issuing the Power of Attorney in Canada for all types of administrative, judicial, and legal transactions.

The Consulate will prepare any Power of Attorney whose draft has been sent from Chile. Make sure you provide the wording (called minuta in Spanish) in advance, by e-mail.

Fee for the General Power of Attorney:

US$ 65 (three pages)

US$ 70 (four pages), etc.

All the abovementioned documentsmay be requested by any person who present at the Consulate, the original documentation specified below.

However, the documents must be signed and collected by the interested party when completed.

ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION THAT MUST BE PRESENTED AT THE CONSULATE IN ORDER TO REQUEST ANY OF THE ABOVE DOCUMENTS

Chilean passport and/or Chilean Identity Card of person issuing the document. If naturalised Canadian, they may also use the Canadian passport or Certificate of Citizenship. On many occasions, however, this may not prove useful if the names in the Canadian ID is different from the information contained in the Chilean Passport or Identity Card.

In some cases, Marriage Certificate or Family Book.

Full name of the representative in Chile. His/her Chilean Identity Card number, or R.U.N. number or R.U.T. number. His/her full residential address.
